The House of Trakand has been the heriditary rulers of Visigoth for centuries. The Trakand Dynasty, as some refer to it, is the longest stretching line of heritage existing on the planet. There are claims among the members of the House the first descendant of the family was borne of the loins of an Iron Hands Captain during the liberation of the planet. While these claims can hardly be given credence their are many who faithfully quote this heriditary claim. The current Governor is Darius Mackenel Lascentius III, the First of Visigoth. Darius is a pious servant of the Emperor and a direct confidant of Cardinal Azahal, who attends the cathedral's worship ceremonies on a daily basis. Within the capital city of Tiberius the Governor and his court watch over the planet within the Crystal Palace, a massively towering structure of Imperial authority on Visigoth. The Royal Court numbers no less than four thousand and fifty seven accredited members of the Trakand House. The government of Visigoth is crowned by Darius' presence and immediately followed by the Senate and the Plebescite. The Senate is the next ruling body beneath the ruling family, the last step in decision-making prior to Darius himself. This council is made up of the Manufacturer Generals of the many hive cities, numerous departmental authorities, members of the Adeptus Administratum, Ecclesiarchy, and the Adeptus Arbites (the Arbites are merely a ceremonial guard and Masters of Arms for the Senate). It is this collection of arbitrary representatives that make the decisions that affect the lives of the people of Visigoth. Below the Senate there exists the Plebiscite. This body of government is made up of elected representatives within each hive chosen from among the hive-dwellers. The majority of these representatives are the heads of important guilds and consortiums. The Plebiscite is mainly involved in economic matters and local governing matters such as sanitation and development. There is little actual authority invested in the hive Plebiscites beyond making decisions within their own respective hives. |
